SPAM ONIGIRI!!!! You truly can't get anymore hardcore Japanese American than that. SPAM has this special place in the heart of Asian Americans, specially those from Hawaii; it's almost mythic. For those of you unfamiliar with the wonders of Onigiri, it's just a rice ball and it's not sushi. Sushi has seasoned rice, this is just a plain rice ball with a little something, something in/on it. Good snack food...minus the SPAM.

I'm so jealous of people with easy access to such a variety of foods. Not that I'm that good of a cook, but it'd be nice to at least have the opportunity to try to make some of those things.

I think I'd enjoy onigiri, mostly because I've always liked plain old steamed rice. I think maybe that'll be dinner tonight :d

Re:
St. Louis BBQ is good stuff, but Kansas City BBQ is legendary :D

So does that Spam onigiri actually have some kind of spam flavoring in it?

Re:
i would love to try *real* bbq! :P

that spam onigiri is a rice ball with a hunk of ham on top it. it's wrapped together with a piece of nori (the seaweed).

my mom used to make me bento (packed lunch) with onigiri stuffed with sliced teriyaki'd hot dog inside. that was my "special" field trip lunch. :)

I am! Well. Hopefully. ^_^ GWAI!!! CURSIVE! AAAH!

Yea, apparently Spam sushi was invented here in Milpitas. Or the guy that owns the Japanese/Hawaiian restaurant here, Bento Express, invented it. Something like that.
